Unique opportunity here for an experience Architectural Technician / Technologist to join an SME Architectural practice in Wakefield who specialise in the layout, design and technical delivery of new build housing typologies for PLC house builders and regional developers across Yorkshire and nationally. They also specialise in smaller sites typically up to 20 in size, each of these designs are bespoke and offer a good contrast to the volume housing designs, a nice mixture of work is on offer here.
The Architectural Technician / Technologist will be joining an ambitious family run practice which is now entering its fifth year of trading. The business is headed up by two experienced Directors who have entrenched relationships within the Housing sector, they has successfully built a thriving business which now has 6 full time members of staff. Culturally they have a very friendly and rewarding working environment, all employees here are encouraged and very well looked after. The business has also recently been nominated for several design awards on behalf of their top 10 UK house building client who has chosen one of their designs for their "design of the year" category.
Owing to sustained growth and a robust pipeline of work they have earmarked a strategic technical appoint which will supplement the business as it continues to expand. What they require is an experienced Architectural Technician / Technologist with a proven track record of working in the Residential development sector to include new build volume housing. Ideally you will be from an Architectural Practice background who has successfully run small project teams and led the delivery of various Residential developments from early planning, design and layout stages, through to technical delivery and compiling construction information drawings.. Experience wise we are looking for someone with a minimum of 5-10 years as an Architectural Technician / Technologist who has either taken the experienced route via HNC or have successfully obtained a BSc Architectural Technologists degree.
This opportunity has no glass ceiling for progression, there is the scope to be very hands on in the running of projects teams and learning the wider intricacies of running a business, potential future share options could be on offer for the right candidate.
Here are some of the additional duties for the Architectural Technician / Technologist –
*A thorough understanding of the various design facets of Residential typologies, particularly of a new build nature.
*The ability to produce full planning and working drawing packages using AutoCAD.
*These include design & planning conceptual stages, detailed construction drawing packages, layout designs, location plans, external works and sections.
*Excellent freehand sketch capabilities, particularly so for presenting early-stage draft layout designs.
*Have experience in a supervisory role and being able to delegate work to junior member of the team.
*Proven job running experience and a history or managing your own projects.
*Be able to delivery packages of work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining a meticulous attention to detail.
*Meeting clients and developing long terms relationships with external partners and businesses.
*Excellent client facing skills and an ability to problem solve.
*Be a team player and keen for future progression.
Salary depending on experience / suitability – £37,000 – £42,000 + benefits which includes a Christmas bonus. Additionally, our client offers flexible working hours and the opportunity to work remotely. The office location is Wakefield, free parking is available.
