Reports to – Design & Projects Manager
Location – Bourton Industrial Park, Bourton on the water, Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire GL54 2HQ
Working type – Hybrid working days. 3 days office based / 2 days working from home

We are increasingly becoming recognised on the world stage as leading specialists in the design and manufacture of auditorium and concourse seating. They work closely with the clients' architects to adapt their existing product portfolio, tailored to specific project requirements. As an example, they recently completed the new seating in a Royal Opera House, Linbury Theatre and have a range of their own standard stacking chairs. With new management forging the next chapter and about 20 staff strong, they are seeking a Design & Projects Engineer with a wide skill set able to work within a small multi-tasking environment.

Responsibilities will include

Ensuring that all products are engineered properly from a prototyping perspective
Working with client architects, preparing optimised layouts of seats to meet legal, ergonomic, and functional requirements
Adapting existing the existing product portfolio to suit specific client or project requirements
Develop, optimise and value engineer the existing seating product portfolio to introduce new designs and ensure material and production efficiency.
Project managing to ensure that the design cycle allows production targets to be met. This involves interaction architects, building contractors, end clients, manufacturing partners and sub-contractorsExperience Required

2+ years' experience in design and production engineering
Excellent proficiency with SolidWorks, ideally with PDM
Excellent AutoCAD proficiency, ideally with a working knowledge of Revit andBIM standards

Experience generating manufacturing Bills of Materials
Willingness to visit sites, carry out site surveys and manage installation work
Well organised with developed project management skills
Creative, but blended with accuracy and attention to detail
Good workshop prototyping skills including woodwork, metalwork, jig and pattern making
Good problem-solving skills. An inquisitive and enquiring mind
A practical knowledge of mechanical engineering conventions and practices particularly relating to welding, steel work, fixings etc.
Ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders
