Are you an experienced Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant looking for your next role in Islington, North London?

Tradewind Recruitment is currently looking for a confident Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant to join this OFSTED 'Good' Alternative Provision in the area of Caledonian Road, Islington, for a long-term position starting ASAP this September of 2022. This is a full time, long-term role for the rest of the academic year and possibly beyond, paying between £80.00 and £90.00 per day on PAYE. This school provides for pupils within KS3 and KS4 who are temporarily out of mainstream education and who have Educational Health Care plans aligned to their SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and additional learning difficulties including Autism. You will predominately be working with a Year 7 pupil who has Autism and anxiety so requires 1:1 teaching. You will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons to this pupil with the view to assist their transition back into the classroom. When not working with this pupil, you will be providing general TA support within small classrooms.

This Islington School provides a stable and nurturing environment for young people aged 11 – 16 years old. Their primary goal is to prepare their students for the next stage in education or training; for Keystage3 they aim to prepare students to return to mainstream school and for their Keystage4 students they aim to prepare them to sit their GCSE exams and go on to further education or training. They teach their students in small classes of no more than six students and there is often two members of staff, the teacher and a Learning Assistant. Located by Caledonian Road and Highbury and Islington stations, this school is easily accessible via Victoria and Piccadilly lines, Thameslink, Great Northern and Overground trains.

Essential Requirements:

Experience supporting young people with Autism and other learning difficulties.
Previous support work, TA or LSA work within a Secondary School or other related experience.
A caring and professional manner, willing to support with the personal care of pupils.
Must have legal right to work in the UK.
