The Lowry is an internationally acclaimed cultural landmark situated at the heart of MediaCityUK, one of the world’s most exciting culture and media destinations.
The Lowry’s Visual Arts Team is a small and busy department, working in a dynamic cross-arts venue, which is responsible for a programme of contemporary exhibitions, often working with visual and performing artists, and Salford’s LS Lowry Collection.
We are recruiting for a Curator of contemporary exhibitions and projects, working in both physical and digital environments, who would oversee all aspects of an exhibition’s development, from research and development through to realisation and evaluation, while addressing the needs of The Lowry’s target visitors. You will be required to liaise with artists and their representatives, institutions and stakeholders.
This is a new post which reflects The Lowry’s commitment to strengthening its visual arts programme by diversifying the artists we work with and the audiences we engage with; developing new ideas and methodologies; and ensuring we are well placed to respond to new challenges and imperatives.
The successful candidate will have experience of curating/producing contemporary exhibitions and projects and also have proven experience in coordinating exhibition loans and working with artists/producers. The ideal candidate should have excellent project management, administrative and organisational skills with a working knowledge of Interactive media, particularly digital technology.
