Team Information

The Design Authority plays a pivotal role in securing Parliaments future by setting architectural and engineering strategies and design standards and monitoring their implementation during projects and programmes delivering the work plan. It promotes the conservation of the historic estate and its sustainability targets working alongside specialists support services, including corporate real estate physical and digital asset management, work space planning, maintenance and project teams.

The Role

The Design Manager M&E will be responsible for the coordination of technical and design aspects on projects. You will be a key member within this multi-disciplinary and versatile team. Your skills will be instrumental in delivering high quality Mechanical Design and Project Management. The Design Manager will liaise and coordinate with key stakeholders and end users, within the Design Authority and wider IHSE (In-House Services Estates) to ensure the project outcomes are adequately defined and accounted. You will have proven experience of delivery design management assurance on multiple projects, within a complex working estate, against the RIBA Plan of Works.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Working with the Design Authority, FRMT, operators and building users, set out the Client Requirements.
Assisting in developing the Project Brief, including functional requirements, the Project Budget and Project Outcomes, including benefits analysis.
Work with key stakeholders and stakeholder managers in the design development throughout the RIBA Plan of Works.
Participate in driving innovative, safe and cost-effective solutions through value management activities at each stage completion into the proposed design

Skills and Experience

The success candidate will have the following skills/experience:

Chartered Engineer and fellow or member of IMECHe, RIBA,CIBSE,IET or equivalent with experience of design and construction.
Understanding of Government Soft Landings
Use of NEC3 and NEC4 contract is desired
