Senior Design Engineer
Job Type : Permanent, Full Time
Salary : £45000 – £46000/annum
Platform Resourcing are currently working in partnership to find a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer within a well-established engineering company based in Cwmbran.
The successful candidate will plan and implement activities in order to meet targets for product realisation ensuring compliance with customer specifications. Initiate and develop feasible, cost effective and reliable mechanical designs from concept through to production.

Team Leadership
SolidWorks / Inventor – Computer Aided Design (Apply online only))
From Conceptual sketches to the full detail of mechanical product or component design
Fabrication drawings
Bill of Materials for Project
Experience and close cooperation with Fabrication-CNC Profile Cutter, Folding machines, Bending and welding
Work experience with lifting equipment-operation, repair, improvement of design
Strong hand calculation, sometimes I use my TI-Nspire hand calculator
Projects with SolidWorks/Inventor respect all Chain Design Links: Proposal, Estimation-weight, surface-number of assemblies, Cost, Time manufacturing, Purchase Materials, Transport, Drawings, BOM, Installation onsite, Feed Back from Client
Ensure compliance of technical activities to ISO9001
Write/Review/Check and authorise technical documents
Check/review all technical documents prior to distribution outside FPS
FMEA analysis generation/review
Lead design review meetings
Partake in contract review meetings – with client
Schedule engineering tasks to organise team members to ensure focus on prioritised tasks.
Leadership of Engineers & Technicians
Liaise with quality teamEssential Experience:
Qualified within a Mechanical Engineering discipline (NVQ Level 3/ HNC/ HND or degree level)
Experience of working in a manufacturing/engineering discipline, within a 'bespoke' mechanical engineering environment is compulsory
Ability to create technical drawings
Ability to confirm parts against drawing by measurement (Billing of Materials experience)
