Today circa 2/3rds of the business is project driven, primarily from existing customers, with 1/3rd being contracted managed service business.
North employs c.330 direct employees half of whom are design and field engineering technical experts working nationwide. Our in-house workforce is then supplemented by a large number of subcontractors primarily deployed for project implementation work. North has market leading project & programme management capabilities and operates an in-house network & service monitoring centre. ROLE SUMMARY:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a experienced cabling engineer to work closely with our customers in resolving requirements, faults, cable installations, moves and changes. Focus on observing and achieving the customer service level agreement is paramount.
The successful candidate must have previous structured cabling experience, data centre experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided in support of the data centre environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting moves, adds and changes.
* Fibre and copper patching for server hardware, network switches and architecture and storage devices
* Support and troubleshooting (Passive)
* Database management – updating job progress using our unique cable management database plus customer application tools (training will be provided)
* Adhering to compliance requirements for Health and Safety, Environmental, Quality, Information Security and Data Protection relevant to your job, function and location.
North operate a 4 on 4 off shift pattern which covers 24 hours per day x 7 days per week x 365 days per year.
Shifts:
* 07:30am To 17:30pm
* 15:30pm To 01:30am
* 19:00pm To 05:00am
* 22:00pm To 08:00am
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
To enable further development, the following knowledge, skills and experience are required.
* Moves, Adds and Changes experience, desirable but not essential as training will be provided
* Experience of copper and fibre structured cabling network infrastructure
* Call management ticketing system, ideally Service First but not essential as training will be provided
* Operating knowledge and experience of a range of hand-held testers, primarily Fluke, training will be provided on this test kit
* The ability to locate and rectify faults on structured cabling and voice system
* Excellent customer service skills, including written and oral communication
* Good working knowledge of IT Service Management tools, call logging systems, databases and MS office applications e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook desirable
* Excellent problem-solving skills whilst working under pressure
* Ability to work effectively both within a team and using own initiative with a willingness to learn
* Pride in themselves and their work.
