We are now looking for several Catering Assistants to join us on a permanent, full-time basis who will work under the guidance and direction of the Supervisor as part of a small, busy yet welcoming team. Sound good to you? Read on to find out more!

The Role

Catering Assistants have a range of duties; they work together to ensure high quality service, are welcoming and attentive to our customers, serving food and drink and helping to keep The Grange Tea room running smoothly.

Catering Assistants support our Chefs with food preparation, kitchen cleaning and washing up duties, whilst adhering to food safety standards at all times. Catering Assistants may be required to work across all hospitality areas of the Abbey, to include The Grange, Northgate and The Conference Centre, based on visitor/guest demand and resourcing needs. It will also be necessary for all personnel in the kitchen to adhere to food safety practices (HACCP) and undertake required training, as necessary.

As a Catering Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:

– Dealing with the public in a polite and helpful manner, providing excellent customer service
– Serving food
– Taking payments for food and drink, processing transactions through the till
– Support and helping Chefs in the preparation of food
– Overseeing and restocking the counters
– Cleaning tables, sanitising, wash up duties and disposing of waste
– Understanding all safety procedures relating to fire and security (full training will be provided during employment)
– Compliance with food safety systems (HACCP) Record keeping

About You

To join us as a Catering Assistant, you will need:

– Experience of working in a busy catering environment
– Excellent customer service skills
– Have a confident and friendly manner, with a positive approach to solving customer difficulties and problems
– Ability to work as part of a team
– To be responsible, honest and reliable
– Have a tidy appearance
– Qualifications in food safety in Catering level 1 and 2 or higher(desirable)

This role is subject to a DBS check.
