A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a catering manager to join a local NHS Trust to help deliver a high quality meal service to patients.

Duties will include but will not be limited to:

To provide comprehensive operational management of Patient Catering, and provide appropriate support to Assistant General Manager.

To continuously develop and deliver a professional, quality, cost effective service in order to facilitate the achievement of the Estates & Facilities objectives.

This will involve establishing a detailed knowledge of the service provided and developing close working relationships with the Assistant General Manager, Senior Management Team, Facilities Managers & Staff.

Main Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with all Trust policies & procedures

To ensure that effective communication systems are in place and to ensure team briefs and staff meetings are regularly carried out.

Liaise and play a pro-active role within other departmental project meetings as required.

Work with Procurement to produce service specifications for tender process.

Identifying areas of non-compliance within service area and recommend appropriate actions to ensure compliance.

Analyse and resolve service issues when required.

To have robust systems in place to monitor, maintain and improve the quality of service.

Responsible for undertaking regular audits and providing accurate information to identify opportunities for service improvement.

To ensure that all legislative and statutory health and safety responsibilities are met.

Responsible for ensuring that there is a clear process for all risk assessments, ensuring that they are up to date and undertaken as and when required.

Ensure accurate and timely investigation of all risk incidents putting in place measures to prevent recurrence.

Understand and apply all HR Policies & Procedures appropriately

Monitor and manage the sickness and absence of your teams.

Ensure the department is fully staffed and ensure that appropriate cover is arranged as required.

Create, maintain and enhance effective working relationships with all staff through motivation and support.

Responsibility for the recruitment and selection and induction of new staff and development of existing staff.

Must have ability to undertake performance management of Services and People.

Identify training & development needs and ensure appropriate training is undertaken.

To undertake investigations and, within the Trust policies, be responsible for disciplining staff and, where appropriate, instigate further proceedings.

Responsibility for Individual Performance review (IPR) and Personal Development Plan (PDP), ensuring systems are in place to ensure that staff are supported to complete the PDP.

This is a full time role (37.5 hours a week) and will be initially 3-6 months. For the right candidate this could lead to a longer term role and possibly the opportunity for permanent work.
