We are Matthew’s Enterprise Trust, a charity as part of the Avocet Trust Group and we are recruiting.
We provide Specialist Day Services for vulnerable adults, including people on the Autistic Spectrum. Our aim is to empower our students to maximize their abilities and personal skills to enable them to become as independent as possible. This is achieved by developing both social and daily living skills as well as employment skills through educational and training programs, as well as undertaking practical work experience in areas of their choice.
We have six and a half acres of land on the Preston site with a large greenhouse and animal enclosures where everyone can join in the fun to help grow their own food and look after the animals. We also provide a range of practical work training experiences such as woodwork, metalwork, rural crafts and metal working skills!
We also offer our pupils ASDAN educational programs as well as a comprehensive range of in-house training programs such as first aid and food hygiene, together with support to access other accredited programs such as NVQ’s.
We are currently recruiting for a Catering Tutor to offer learning support to our students alongside managing the day to day running of our café catering facility.
You will be responsible for the following:
* Serving meals to students, customers and visitors, ensuring our students full participation.
* Actively promote and develop our café facility, ensuring a full catering service.
* Establish a full, healthy and varied menu for the café to promote our facility and ensure that significant stock is maintained for our menu.
* Prepare and cook fresh food to maintain the daily menu.
* Development of session plans in accordance with the student’s personal development.
* Ensure the café environment and equipment is cleaned thoroughly.
* Supervising and directing students to maximise learning opportunities.
In order to be successful in this role you should have:
* A foundation level food hygiene certificate and experience in teaching, training or coaching within a similar environment.
* Relevant experience in a similar café.
* Ideally you should have experience of working with people with learning difficulties.
* A full driving license.
