Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join our nursing home in Newton Abbot. As a Nursing Home Chef, you will be responsible for creating and delivering nutritious and appetizing meals to our residents. Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and cook well-balanced meals for residents, considering their dietary restrictions and preferences.
Ensure that meals are served at appropriate temperatures and in an appealing manner.
Develop and follow standardized recipes to maintain consistency and quality.
Monitor and maintain inventory levels of food and kitchen supplies, placing orders as needed.
Adhere to health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.
Collaborate with nursing home staff to meet individual residents' dietary requirements and accommodate special dietary needs.
Plan and adapt menus taking into account seasonal availability and resident feedback.
Attend meetings with the nursing home management to review menu plans and address any concerns or suggestions.
Provide guidance and support to kitchen staff, ensuring proper training and adherence to food preparation standards.
Stay abreast of food industry trends, new culinary techniques, and dietary guidelines.
Requirements:
Previous experience working as a Chef in a professional kitchen, preferably in a nursing home or similar care setting.
Strong culinary skills with the ability to create delicious and visually appealing meals.
Knowledge of dietary restrictions and the ability to cater to specific dietary needs.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations in food preparation and kitchen management.
Excellent organizational and time management skills to ensure efficient meal preparation.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with nursing home staff and address residents' needs.
Flexibility to work four 11-hour shifts on any days to suit the operation of the nursing home.
A passion for providing nutritious and appetizing meals to elderly individuals.
Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a positive and professional attitude.
