Salary: £9.68 – £10.16 per hour + 45% enhancement at weekends

About the role:
This is a busy role that requires a high level of expertise as you will need to prepare meals to suit modified diets to IDSAA standards. You will also deputise and manage the team effectively in the absence of the Head Chef. You will not have any budgetary responsibility but will be expected to ensure costs and expenditures are kept within agreed limits.
Other key responsibilities will include:
* Ensure that all food is correctly prepared and stored and presented in a way which meets agreed standards
* In the absence of the Head Chef ensure that all catering staff follow policies and procedures
* Ensure all equipment is left clean at end of shift and report equipment faults or concerns
* Ensure recording of cleaning and equipment maintenance schedules
* Attend and contribute to Quality Improvement Groups as required
* Attend mandatory training as required
About you:
As Chef you will be able to communicate and interact with all staffing groups and be able to remain calm under pressure. You will also need to bring with you the following skills and experience:
* Level 2 Food Hygiene essential, level 3 desirable
* NVQ or SVQ Level 2 General Catering or equivalent essential
* Knowledge of regulation, e.g. COSSH, Health & Safety, HACCP
* NVQ / SVQ Level 3 General Catering or equivalent desirable
* Previous experience of working in kitchens
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Ability to work closely with service users and communicate effectively with them
* Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing essential
* Experience of working in a health and social care setting desirable
* IT literacy essential
* Demonstrable skills in cooking for large groups of people and an ability to cater for varying dietary needs essential
