A leading Oxford based professional publisher is looking to recruit a Commissioning Editor working across their UK Law list on a 12 month FTC. This is a hybrid role working 2 days a week in the office, with the remaining 3 days working remotely.
This is a key role for the company, working on one of their most commercial lists. The job holder will have responsibility for commissioning and managing a wide range of UK legal titles from initial conception through to launch. The Commissioning Editor will actively keep up to date with researching the market, have a good understanding of the UK legal market and able to identify market trends, developments and new channels for development. The successful candidate will be a sound negotiator, comfortable working with authors and partners to build relationships, and negotiate contracts.
The successful candidate will have a track record in commissioning, ideally within a professional publishing environment – an understanding of Law and the UK Legal Sector would be an advantage. Proven experience in book commissioning is essential, as well as online product development and product management.
