I am recruiting on the behalf a market-leading organisation in Lancashire, who are looking to recruit a Commodity Manager to be responsible for the full strategic and operational aspects of a key production commodity.

This is a challenging and fast paced role where material availability is key to preventing line stoppages and having confidence to deliver key presentations on future strategy to board level is part and parcel of the job.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward thinking, growing, opportunistic organisation where you will join a team of some of the top purchasing/procurement professionals in the North West and will have the guidance and leadership of an established and experienced Purchasing Director.

There are multiple levels of progression available at Commodity Manager as well as more opportunity available at the next step up as well as laterally within different functions of the business.

Day to day responsibilities will include:

* Management of a high value commodity package including development of suppliers to ensure total cost sourcing decisions are made in line with PACCAR requirements.

* Achievement and reporting of Company targets on cost control, quality improvement and lead time improvement.

* Development of partnership relationships with vendors.

* Work with suppliers to implement PACCARs Cost Management Programme and ensure Six Sigma projects are defined and implemented.

* Understand commodities managed at multiple levels and develop short, medium and long-term commodity strategies.

* Identify and lead a number of cost reduction projects

* Manage a complex and varied workload, ensuring attention is maintained on key actions.

Essential experience:

* Strong experience in Purchasing/Supply Chain from a Manufacturing/Engineering perspective.

* Proven cost savings and ability to deliver critical parts on time.

* Commercially aware with knowledge and experience in preparation of orders and order invoicing

* Degree Educated

My client is looking to attract the best of the best; they have put together an attractive package with a starting salary of £45,000 – £50,000 which also includes a impressive contributory pension, 25 days holiday, salary reviews, Overtime and Support towards further education.

Working hours are 37 hours per week, starting anywhere from 7:30am-8:30am.
