Please note it is envisaged the role will start on site for training/development (circa first 1-2 months depending on candidate). Thereafter the role will likely be hybrid, mostly remote with requirements to come into Bognor Regis/Chichester as required.

Essential requirements summary:

1. Excellent 'plain English' writing and editing skills with the ability to vary tone and content to meet the needs of niche audiences (e.g., young people; people with learning difficulties) plus the ability to commission and edit content from a variety of contributors. This process may require taking complex language and processes and making them simple to understand for publication on the organisations website.

2. Must have a keen eye for detail and be able to write content consistently without errors or omissions ready to be published online to a wide audience.

3. Acute attention to detail to proof and correct / update content before go live with the ability to understand and apply corporate standards for consistency and accessibility.

4. Computer literate in order to use a variety of web related technologies to create accessible content and publish via a number of content management systems.

5. Good problem solving skills with the ability to analyse and interpret complex information and to produce simplified and summarised versions suitable for online publication.

6. Independently organise, plan and meet agreed targets and co-ordinate a variety of tasks in a clear and logical way to meet agreed deadlines.

7. Supervision and people management skills to matrix manage a small team of Web Editors to undertake related digital assignments.

8. Comfortable working with a variety of web technologies and colleagues from other disciplines including web developers and related digital experts from IT and other specialist agencies.

9. Demonstrable experience using website systems such as content management, analytics, forms, search and performance management.

10. Working knowledge of Government Digital Standards and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines with the ability to translate and apply these to content management.

Experience working in a website team / web content management and / or publishing environment and or development and/or digital agency / Communications department is ideal, however we can provide full in house training to the right candidate
