Our client now has opportunities for Cooks / Chefs to join them on a casual / Zero Hour Contract basis. If you are at university or college, already have a part-time job, are semi-retired or simply have other commitments, then they can offer a great opportunity to join their fantastic kitchen team!
They are committed to delivering the highest levels of customer experience within their extra care schemes, and as a Cook / Chef you will play an integral part in delivering those services.
As a not-for-profit organisation they provide a comprehensive range of services to over 6,000 homes, and extra care schemes. With their aim to be the Best Rural Housing Association in the country, they are looking for great people to join them!.
You will prepare meals from the daily menu, manage kitchen supplies, check and maintain equipment whilst adhering and upholding food safety standards and legislated kitchen practices.

Your responsibilities will include:

Ensuring high standards of food quality from point of delivery to meal preparation, cooking and service.
*
Ensuring the provision of a food service that fulfils the needs of all residents and customers.
*
Maintaining food preparation and to be actively involved with the catering requirements. May occasionally be required to cater for special events as directed by the Catering Manager.
*
Complying and following the company's food safety management system (HACCP) ensuring temperature control records and food labelling are maintained.
*
Ensuring the kitchen is kept clean and hygienic.
*
Maintaining good working relationships with internal and external customers across the organisation.
*
Understanding the prevention and control of infection, food hygiene, COSHH, Health and Safety and Fire Safety and the correct wearing of PPE.
*
Understanding company policy on security and maintenance of the catering and dining
About you
Their ideal candidate will have:
*
Basic Certificate in Food Hygiene
*
Knowledge of HACCP/Food Safety
*
Proven cooking experience
*
Good understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
*
Ability to prepare and cook nutritious meals to a high standard and to follow menus
*
Knowledge of current working practices within a busy kitchen
*
Ability to drive and hold a valid driving license along with the use of a vehicle for work purposes, at times of concern at other locations.
