Contek Recruitment are working with a well-established Precision Engineering company, who are seeking an experienced Cylindrical Grinder to join their team. My client is a UK based manufacturer of precision parts, which are used in the World's most demanding and high profile industries.
This is a dayshift role of Mon-Thurs.
Prime Objective: Under the direction of the supervisor, the grinder sets up, adjusts and operates a variety of grinding equipment to grind gears, gear shafts and spline shafts having very tight tolerances and finish requirements according to specified dimensions and company quality standards.
General Responsibilities/Requirements:
* Work from detailed drawings, process sheets, tooling instructions, and standard charts to identify component/manufacturing specifications.
* Compute such data as dimensions, rotation speeds, feed rates, and machining times.
* Uses experience to determine the best practice machining methods for each part.
* Use dial indicators, micrometers, and other standard and special precision inspection equipment to set up, adjust and check dimensions.
* Enters data into ERP system.
* Work with supervisor & support teams to resolve problem situations as required.
* Performed work with a variety of grinding wheel specifications. Must have experience working with overhead dressers.
* May be required to operate multiple machines.
* Rotate between various department work centres as required.
* Use hand tools and manual machines as needed.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
* Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures. Comply with all quality and safety regulations.
Role Related Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Personal Attributes
Qualifications or Functional Experience
* Requires a minimum of 3 years trades training or equivalent experience and two to four years of related machining experience.
* Requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and percent.
* Previous experience and demonstrated proficiency in operating precision grinding machines.
* Requires a knowledge of grinding principles, tooling, material characteristics, machine shop procedures, abrasives and general machining practices.
* Must have extensive knowledge of Grinding processes
* Requires the ability to read specifications and gauges and to complete standard production documentation
System or Knowledge
* Able to work with IT systems and possess a good level of PC literacy.
