Saffron Walden Golf Club is the number 1 Golf Course in Cambridgeshire and accommodates more than 1000 members. Our friendly Bar & Catering team serve a wide range of high-quality, freshly prepared food daily. In all seasons and everything from golfers’ favourites to modern taste sensations on our regular bar menu.

In this role, you will assist and deputise for the Bar and Catering Manager to ensure that the Bar & Catering department provides members and visitors with a high-quality service at all times. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management, supervision and direction of staff working in the bar, kitchen and restaurant area including weekly Rota’s.

Exceptional customer service is an absolute must, as is experience in a similar role
What will your role as a Deputy Bar & Catering Manager look like?

To ensure the daily standard of presentation of the bar & restaurant areas is of the quality expected by members and visitors
To ensure staff provide the highest possible level of service and presentation to both members, guests and function/event
To work with the Head Chef in planning, presentation and execution of service to the member/customer
To work with the Membership and Events Manager to coordinate Functions/Events ensuring the diary system is kept up to date and all necessary administration is completed
To deputise in the Bar and Catering Managers’ absence and meet daily with each ‘service team’ to set expectations, plan and discuss any events, matches or functions that day
To ensure current Health and Safety and other relevant legislation is adhered to
To assist the Bar and Catering Manager in maintaining appropriate levels of bar stocks and ensure orders are placed through the appropriate source
To assist in developing and supporting staff through continuous professional development and training
To work with the facilities manager to ensure the clubhouse is always maintained and presented professionally
To assist in the management of the kitchen, bar and waiting rotas to ensure they are effective and appropriate through the various peaks and lows of footfall.
To Assist in the approval and authorisation of staff time sheets at end of each shift
To manage the day’s takings ensuring Invoices and Credit books are kept up to date.
To be responsible for the end-of-day procedures regarding securing the premises and alarms
Any other duties as directed by the General Manager
