General role
Delivers the day to day running of the Digital Media Buying unit and cooperates with other team members to have a positive impact on the unit and the wider organisation. Controls and prioritises the workflow between team members and drives the development of the media team.
Oversees and leads the core digital media planning and buying role within the agency that identifies which media platforms are best suited to a clients products and services. Works with clients to agree and set KPI’s which the agency will be delivering against. Use all data sources available to guide their clients to optimize their advertising campaigns across the media mix.
Ensures media planner / buyers are combining creative thinking with factual analysis to develop appropriate strategies to ensure that campaigns reach their target audiences as effectively as possible. Ensuring they apply knowledge of media and communication platforms to identify the most appropriate mediums for delivering against the clients KPI’s.
Acts as a quality control point for deliverables from the digital media buying team.
Deliver a client service that exceeds the expectations of the client. Instil total confidence in the internal team and the client regarding the ‘media buying and planning’ function in the agency.
Client Service – Accountabilities
* Lead client relationships in a digital media context across the agency
* Has an excellent understanding of all digital media client business activities and objectives, looks to use experience and skills to recommend new thoughts and channels for activation.
* Develop and continuously improve regular client reporting tools and processes
* Is confident in developing data analysis for the team to use and draws meaningful conclusions that will drive media decisions in line with client’s business objectives.
* Leads constructive questioning of initial client briefs and communicates this to the wider team understand any requirements of brief.
* Input into senior level discussions within the wider agency team to forward plan for clients from a digital media point of view.
* Is confident in leading presentation of strategies, plans and PCAs at client meetings.
* Is responsible to ensure clients, receive timely communication (proposals, schedules invoices, contact reports etc.) either directly or from line reports, in line with agency process.
* Negotiates with the media on behalf of the client utilising their own personal network to obtain best rates and added value wherever possible.
* Can discuss with confidence both offline and online media buying and understands the integration of these within a client strategy.
Internal Service – Accountabilities
* Be accountable for preparing and reporting digital media revenue and understanding the context of set targets in the wider agency.
* Have a holistic view on the on-line presence / activity across all agency clients, look for areas to improve offering across all clients.
* Control and ensure completion of all on-line reconciliations with outside suppliers, so that across full client set the agency is aware of credit / debt situations.
* Facilitate the development of best practice brand digital strategies, both paid and organic, including Web, Mobile, Social Media, CRM and Marketing Automation for the media team.
* Be responsible for post-campaign analysis to be issued from the team and share/present insights to colleagues and teams, and aid in the development of case studies to be used in the new business process.
* Assess and present the recommendation to appoint use any external digital partners to the Board before appointing e.g. Web development partners.
* Is responsible for updating the team and the continuous training of media and agency team in best practice in digital channels & innovation.
* Is responsible for ensuring that client digital budgets are monitored and delivered against, assist with costing of digital activities and ensure ROI.
* Guide team members on media tactics and strategies for individual clients.
* Briefs the entire agency on any digital related media areas. Is responsible for researching new areas which are of interest to the agency.
* Be actively involved in new business ideas and represents the agency at pitches to new and current clients.
* Is responsible for the development and estimation of project work proposals to new and current clients.
* Leads in regular team meetings to manage the workflow of the team.
* Has a full understanding of reporting and research systems available in the agency. Can train others in their use.
Competencies:
Understanding of all digital channels including but not restricted to, Google Ads, SEO, Paid Social, Native, Programmatic, Amazon Marketing Services.
Excellent knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Tag manager and other common digital tools.
Has good management skills and able to coach and develop junior team members.
Has a good network of industry contacts that can be drawn upon if required.
Able to demonstrate detailed knowledge across digital media channels.
