We are working with a leading membership society that publish scientific content for medical professionals and they are now looking for an Editorial Assistant to join their Publications team, and support the day-to-day running of the portfolio. With outreach over 50+ countries, their content and guidelines have an amazing impact on an international scale and make a huge difference on the career of healthcare professionals and the treatment of patients.
Their portfolio includes subscription-based and Open Access journals, medical guidelines and protocols, as well as an amazing multimedia collection of video tutorials, webinars and podcasts.
The role offers hybrid working with 2 days a week in Windsor and the remaining days working from home.
Key accountabilities:
Assisting the Publications team (comprising of Editors, Publishers, Managing Editors and a Publications Director) with the data gathering, scheduling and minute taking for board and team meetings
Responding to queries from authors
Supporting the Publisher with the update and maintenance of the journal website
Creating author profiles on directory system
Helping with final quality checks on accepted articles, ensuring all relevant sections are complete and that layout is correct
Helping with social media promotion
Producing conference submission reports
This is a junior role for which candidates don't need to have previous publishing experience; although they should make it clear why they are interested in STM publishing and its various elements, including peer review, Open Access and publishing ethics. We will also be looking for strong communication skills, good attention to detail (including the ability to proofread technical content and check for grammatical errors) and good working knowledge of Excel.
