Rated as one of the best 4* hotels in Hertfordshire our client is a luxury hotel venue set in 35 acres of rolling countryside whose landscaped Arboretum and historic 16th century lodge offers the perfect setting for weddings, celebrations, relaxing stays, business retreats for award-winning dining near London.  The hotel has 58 bedrooms, 7 conference and banqueting rooms, Restaurant and Terrace Bar. 

About the responsibilities
As an Events and Reservations Manager you will contribute to the first impressions of Guests and must perform the following key tasks to the highest standards.  Responsibilities include:

Ensuring that your department is operated in line with driving revenue, net profit and conversion whilst delivering a first-class customer experience
Taking an active role with the preparation of the budgets and plans for your department
Working with the Revenue Manager and Proactive Sales Manager to compile and implement the sales & marketing plan for conference and events
Maintaining account profiles through consistent, identifying new conference accounts and build relationships to grow market share for key accounts
Compile competitor analysis to adapt strategy accordingly
Responsible for maximizing sales opportunities
Deal efficiently with enquiries in a timely and professional way and in line with SOPs.
Setting departmental objectives, work schedules, budgets, policies & procedures incl. managing staff performance in line with SOPs and HR and Training/Development policies & procedures/practices and keep them updated.
Good understanding and implementation of rate strategy, actively through proactive upselling techniques to promote hotels services and facilities, and regular monitoring.
Regular monitoring of the reservation bookings, packages, discounts etc by using the Central Reservation System
Maximise employee productivity by multi-skilling, multi-tasking and flexible scheduling
Management of all billing details, ensuring accurate and prompt invoicing at all times
Ensure that all processes and procedures relating to financial activities, record keeping, money handling and licensing are adhered to, including timely and accurate reporting of financial information.
Holding regular sales meetings with the team giving direction and objectives, yield strategy, review business to date and encourage new ideas to drive the business forward
Ensure all legislative training is adhered to and carried out effectively and efficiently.
Recruit, manage, train and develop Reservation and M&E teams
Promote a helpful and professional image to the customer, giving full co-operation to any customer requiring attention and with a commitment to dealing with issues in a positive way
Meet and exceed client expectations in terms of support, quality and service, in line with The Mystery Partnership standards
About you
The ideal candidate for the role of Events and Reservations Manager will possess:

Strong IT, telephone and communication skills
Line Management experience of leading, training and developing a team, plus recruitment and performance management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Good literacy numeracy skills, as well as good level of IT proficiency and knowledge of hotel systems
Positive attitude and professional, with high levels of personal presentation and grooming standards
Proactive, welcoming and committed to delivering a high level of customer service
Excellent organisation and attention to detail is essential, and good problem-solving skills.
Flexible, proactive and able to work on your own as well as part of a team
Salary and Hours
The role of Events and Reservations Manager is a full-time position working up to 45* hours over 5 days per week, as per rota and in line with business needs.  The working hours equates to 47.5 hrs per day (including 30 mins. unpaid break).  The role requires an expectation to work anytime as required by the business.
