What you’ll be doing…
We’re looking for a Farm Supervisor to lead a team in hand-picking a variety of seasonal veg across the growing season, general outdoor field work, and other tasks include manual planting, moving crop covers, hoeing, weeding, and occasionally helping in our polytunnels at peak times or working on our machine planter.
We're also looking for a Polytunnel Supervisor to join our team between April and October. Your role will be largely based in our polytunnels, where you'll be responsible for everything from planting through to clearing. You'll mainly be working with basil, tomatoes, and mini cucumbers, and will be expected to be hands-on with your team, working with them to set a good work rate while also keeping an eye on the quality of the work.
You’ll be a great people-person, motivating and coaching your team to achieve what they need to every day. Working conditions will be variable – in beautiful Devon countryside, but only sometimes beautiful weather! – and you may have inexperienced members in your team who need a bit of extra support. This will take someone well organised, great at planning and prioritising, reliable, hard-working, and confident at communicating.
Skills & experience…
* Ideally, experience of supervising a team in an agricultural setting
* Able to be hands on with the team, working with them and setting a good work rate, as well as organising and keeping an eye on the quality of the work
* Experience of covered cropping (Polytunnel/greenhouses) preferred – Polytunnel
* Experience with tomatoes/cucumbers preferred – Polytunnel
* Full driving license
What are the hours? The role is 39 hours per week, with some overtime. Normal hours are 6.45am-3pm Monday-Friday (usually an hour earlier in the summer, half an hour later in the winter).
What are we paying? £12.97 per hour (Time and half over 39 hours per week)
Fixed Term Contract April to October, with possibility for perm (Farm Supervisor role)
