Cedar is supporting a high growth gaming business who are seeking a Financial Controller. The role will be based in Malta, and you will take ownership of group-level financial reporting, subsidiary consolidations, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

The Role

As Financial Controller, you will oversee financial operations across multiple locations, ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic growth initiatives. This role involves working closely with various teams, including studio operations, publishing, and newly acquired businesses, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare financial statements and management reports across multiple jurisdictions.
Ensure compliance with international accounting standards and support external audits.
Develop and monitor budgets, conduct forecasting, and provide financial insights for M&A activities.
Manage balance sheet reconciliations, month-end/year-end closing, and cash flow operations.
Oversee royalty payments, invoicing, collections, and supplier payments.
Ensure VAT and corporate tax compliance across multiple territories.
Support tax incentives, grants, and funding applications (e.g., UK Video Games Tax Relief).
Conduct financial analysis on development costs, revenues, and platform fees.
Implement financial process improvements, particularly post-acquisition.Candidate Profile

Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
3-5 years post-qualification experience, ideally in gaming, tech, or entertainment.
Experience in financial reporting, tax compliance, and multi-entity accounting.
Knowledge of cryptocurrency transactions and digital asset accounting (IFRS13) is a plus.
Proficiency in accounting software (preferably Xero) and strong Excel skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaborate across international teams.
Proactive, adaptable, and eager to contribute to a growing business.
