Our Head Office is based in Macclesfield and we have another large, newly refurbished office right in the heart of London where our CEO is based. Your key responsibilities as the Food Buyer will consist of:
– To ensure each category delivers the optimum solution for clients, customers and commercial results
– To develop category strategies for long-term benefit optimisation
– To manage category tenders from planning through supplier selection to contract completion
– To work with Sales, Operations, and Marketing teams to ensure that business requirements are clarified and met.
– To liaise with the international purchasing team based in Paris and drive international initiatives within category responsibilities
– To manage range reviews and interface with other key stakeholders such as Development Chefs
– To monitor sales and implement action plans to optimise sales opportunities, to forecast and manage category and supplier financial
– To work closely with the business and development chefs on new projects, initiatives and concepts.
Profile: The experience and knowledge we are looking for from the future Food Buyer include:
– Excellent negotiation techniques / commercial and financial management skills
– Knowledge of relevant markets and commodities
– Excellent organisational and planning skills
– Analytically and process minded individual with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint & Outlook
– Highly motivated and project-driven individual who is highly articulate with excellent communication and influencing skills
– Excellent contract management skills
– A Strategic thinker who is able to think laterally when looking for solutions to business issues and has high regard for working with multiple stakeholders and cross functional teams
– Education to degree level or equivalent
– CIPs qualified preferable
– Experience in FMCG buying – e.g. food service or retail
– Proven experience as a results driven and forward-thinking purchasing expert
