Head Cook – Chelmsford – £ 25,000 (35 hr week)

Our retained client is looking for a head cook to start in 2023 for their catering establishment on the outskirts of Chelmsford, this establishment has a restaurant with rooms and can cater up to a maximum of 30 people.

The Kitchen currently offers full board for all guests which includes breakfast lunch and dinner, the venue is based in the Essex countryside and is accessible by public transport, but a car driver would be preferred due to location and bus times.

The Role

We are looking a Head Cook to lead our small kitchen team to provide nutritious and well-balanced meals to guests and visitors. You will be required to:-

* Overseeing menu planning, stock control and ordering of inventory

* Prepare, cook, and serve home cooked dishes of high quality that are well presented.

* Keeping up with industry requirements and creating new recipes

* Ensure that meals meet the requirements of any special diets and food allergies as advised by guests.

* Reviewing the menu and doing inventory

* Following the budget agreed with the General Manager

* Monitoring food production and food costs

* Ensuring standard portions and quality of dishes are consistent

* Be responsible for the efficiency and effective running of the kitchen and maintaining high standards.

* Adhere to and promote all food safety, hygiene, and Health & Safety regulations in all areas of the kitchen

* Managing relationships with distributors and resolving any issues with vendors promptly and raise any concerns with the Manager.

* Training staff

Experience required

* Qualified with an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Food Hygiene or equivalent.

* Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a similar kitchen environment, and have a passion for fresh, and well-presented homestyle food.

* Relevant Food Safety qualification.

* Passionate about great food.

* Ability to prepare, cook and serve nutritious and well-balanced meals for up to approximately 30 guests.

* Personable, willing, and helpful with the ability to work on own initiative and respond to different needs and multiple priorities.

* Collaborative: willing and able to work as a member of a team and support colleagues to achieve their objectives.

* Excellent attention to detail.

* Calm under pressure.

* Well organised with excellent attention to detail and have good communications skills.

Hours

* 35 hours per week (full time), hours will be set on a rota basis working 5 days out of a 7-day period. (Every other weekend off)

* 8am/10am to 8pm

* Early finish on Sundays 3pm

Given the remoteness of the venue, a driving licence and access to a car would be highly useful but is not essential.

Easily accessible from Chelmsford, Braintree and Great Dunmow areas.
