Job description / summary
To support care of the residents by ensuring that the home is kept clean, safe from infection and laundry is dealt with safely and efficiently. Working as part of a 24hr team with flexibility to cover sick leave/holidays of colleagues. Public holiday working may be required.
Work environment
The home is run by Christian principles with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere of care, consideration and concern. Residents must feel at ease and secure with as full a part in the life of the home as possible.
Main responsibilities
* To assist with kitchen duties at mealtimes.
* To dust and vacuum main areas of the home.
* To clean and tidy residents’ bedrooms on a rota basis.
* To wash, iron, repair and store residents’ clothing and household linen.
* To ensure residents’ garments are marked with name tags.
* To maintain health and hygiene regulations as per company policy.
* To wear protective clothing as appropriate and in keeping with COSSH regulations.
* To conform to manual handling techniques and risk assessments.
* To maintain correct records.
* Ensure stocks of cleaning materials are adequate at all times.
* To undertake appropriate training, as determined by the manager/ deputy.
* To carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required by the manager/ deputy.
Knowledge / experience required
Experience of normal household duties and knowledge of care of the elderly is an advantage. Basic knowledge of the sewing is an advantage.
Personal attributes required
Must be physically fit, reliable and honest, able to work and be adaptable, preferably with a cheerful disposition and practical approach.
