We are currently seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join our team in Merthyr Tydfil on an ongoing temporary basis with the potential for a permanent position for the right person. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will be responsible for providing support to the chefs and kitchen team in various tasks such as preparing ingredients, cooking, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen area. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Assisting chefs with food preparation, such as chopping vegetables, preparing meats, and making sauces and soups.
Helping with cooking and baking tasks, such as mixing ingredients, monitoring ovens and stovetops, and ensuring food is cooked to the correct temperature.
Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and taking out the trash.
Stocking and organizing kitchen supplies, such as utensils, pots, and pans.
Following food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure the safety and quality of the food served.
Assisting with inventory management and ordering supplies as needed.
Maintaining a positive and professional demeanourwhile working with other staff members and customers.
Requirements:
Previous experience working in a kitchen environment is preferred, but not required.
Being a current holder of a level 2 food hygiene is preferred but not required
Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
Ability to work weekends and have a flexible schedule.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift upto 25 pounds.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
