Recruiting for a Senior Associate (Banking & Finance), this is a great opportunity for an experienced banking & finance fee-earner to join one of the largest teams of banking and finance lawyers in the South region, providing specialist service for banks, lenders and businesses. Our client advise on a wide range of finance options, including debt financing, equity fundraising and crowdfunding. They act for many different types of clients on transactions of all sizes, ranging from major property investors and developers on their real estate finance facilities and large corporates on their working capital and acquisition finance loans as well as on smaller value loans for SMEs. The team also work closely with and are on the panel for a number of banks and are members of the LMA, so the team understand banking and finance from all perspectives.
We are looking for someone with at least 2 years PQE. Whilst this role is advertised as Senior Associate, our client is open to candidates at Associate and Senior Associate level. Associate level would command a salary of up to £55/57K. Senior Associate would equate to up to £75K.
This exciting opportunity is based in Tunbridge Wells, with the option of some remote work.

JOB OVERVIEW
Senior Associates are responsible for the delivery of legal advice to clients, which is technically accurate, commercially astute and well presented. You are expected to generate some of your own client instructions from existing clients and in some cases from new clients. Present a positive and professional image and have a high level of credibility with clients and colleagues. Take responsibility for your decisions and embrace change positively.
MAIN DUTIES include, but are not limited to:
To provide legal services for an appropriate fee to the Firm’s clients: • Meeting clients when necessary • Take appropriate instructions from clients • Understanding the range of legal issues likely to affect clients • Network with colleagues to ensure a client receives a total service offering • Inform clients about fees in compliance with Rule 2 • Prepare and delivering fee invoices at monthly or other agreed intervals • Advise clients accurately and effectively on the legal issues that arise • Manage client expectations about what they want to achieve • Carry out client instructions on all business matters for which you are responsible • Report progress and outcomes to clients on a regular basis To provide legal services in accordance with the quality standards of the Firm particularly with regard to: • Client care • Risk management • Time recording of work done • Invoicing clients for work carried out • The recovery of fees billed.
EXPERIENCE
• Typical experience would have been acquired within a large regional firm or a medium to large London firm within the appropriate area of the law • Accustomed to dealing with clients, partners, fee earners and support staff at all levels and as appropriate to the level of the post • Previous experience of supervising a small team • Accustomed to delivering work to commercial and financial targets • Accustomed to supervising staff as appropriate to the level of the post • Accustomed to working without close supervision • Able to demonstrate confidentiality and integrity
QUALIFICATIONS
• Legal degree – 2.1 (or above) from a well respected university; followed by a first time pass in the LPC; or • Non-legal degree – 2.1(or above) from a well respected university; followed by a first time pass in GDL or LPC • ‘A’ levels or equivalent – 3 ‘Bs’ or above • A training contract with a large regional firm or a medium to large London firm leading to admission as a solicitor • A current practising certificate • Regulatory history that meets the requirements of the practice • An appropriate training record

• Manage the communication process in relation to client matters, ensuring that the client and colleagues feel fully informed and comfortable with progress • Deliver against personal financial targets, work within the required timescales and show a commitment to finding solutions to issues • Seek opportunities to increase their understanding and knowledge and will also constantly strive for performance improvement • Make use of support services effectively and efficiently • Communicate in a clear and confident way in writing and orally • Flexible, energetic, organised and accustomed to meeting tight deadlines • Team player • IT competence – good working knowledge of Microsoft packages and other IT systems • Ability to produce own correspondence as appropriate to the post
