Salary : £10.50 – £11/hour

Chicken Quality Inspector

This is a production-based position. You will be required to inspect meat on a moving production line.

Shifts between 05:50-end of production (shift start & finish times may vary depending on staffing levels /holidays etc) so own transport is required.

9.5-hour shifts, with 1hr 15min break (split over 2 breaks)

Can accommodate a 4-day working week

Qualified (national recognised qualification – must provide certificate) £11.00 p/h

Trainee £10.50 p/h increasing to £11.00 upon qualifying

Company: You will be working in a slaughterhouse so you will see Live & Dead animals. This may be off-putting to some applicants so despite us being a friendly and a welcoming team, this is an environment that may not suit all!

Responsibilities:

You will inspect slaughtered animals which involves looking at & touching at different stages of the process to ensure they are fit for human consumption and reject any product that doesn't make the grade.

Candidates need to have very good English communication skills (verbal, written and reading).

They will have to be able record all rejections accurately so that losses are recouped fully.

Communicate with FSA & auditing officials clearly & accurately.

When the employee is not acting as a meat inspector then they will be required to assist in other areas of production e.g. harvesting, cleaning etc.

Ensure food safety & hygiene is maintained throughout the shift.

Experience:

Basic food safety training would be a bonus, but training will be given.

You will gain a qualification in FDQ Level 2 Award for Proficiency in Poultry Meat Inspection. Meat inspector training is between 3-6 month (practical) with a training course and assessment (written and practical).

Candidates must have their own transport due to the rural location of the site and the rotational shift pattern.
