Mechanical Fitter
Job Type : Permanent, Full Time
Salary : £16.50 – £17/hour
Our client is looking for candidates with some experience of using hand tools such as Torque wrenches who can follow mechanical drawings/ Instructions.
If the answer is yes, then we may have the perfect role, we are currently recruiting for a engineering firm in Doncaster. They are looking for experienced Fitters to work on Rolling Stock.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Ideally Apprentice trained in a mechanical discipline, City & Guilds Level 3 or BTEC Level 3 qualification. Relevant experience for minimum 2 years.
Background in heaving engineering fitting (i.e., HGV, Bus, Rail, Aerospace or motor mechanics)
Good literacy and numeracy knowledge
Basic Computer knowledge
Understanding of work instructions and procedures
Physical capability to crawl under and over bogies and manual handling of machinery and equipment.
Be able to carry out a broad range of tasks across all areas of manufacturing process
Excellent timekeeping and attendance
Willingness to work as a team and learn and develop in all aspects
Basic understanding of lean principles (5S)
Excellent teamwork ethic.
The role on offer
Assembly of Rail components
The position on offer is a permanent basis. On a 2 shift system (6/2 and 2/10)
You will also be required to undertake a drugs & alcohol test and medical before starting the assignment.
Hours of Work & Benefits:
Two shifts, days and afternoons (alternating).
6.00 am to 2.15 pm Monday to Thursday
6.00 am to 12.00 Friday
2.15 pm – 10.30 pm Monday to Thursday
12.00 – 6.00 pm Friday.

Pension is 3% contribution from Company and 5% employee. No sick pay for the first 12 months, then full pay up to 14 weeks for first five years. Death in service is 4 times salary if in pension scheme, and 1 times if not. Holiday 25 plus stats.
