About The Role
Selwood Pump Production specialise in the assembly of large water pumps, using in house cranes and tooling to assemble Pump Body Unit's and Pump Chassis.
We are inviting applications for Engineers to carry out the day to day assembly / testing of our pumps takes place using a variety of components such as:
* Couplings
* Engines
* Electric Motors
* Pump Body Units
* Pump Chassis
* Bearings Mechanical Seals
* Identification Plates
* Nuts/Studs/Bolts to required torque settings
* Shimming
* Impellers
* Battery’s
* Guarding
Engineers will also be responsible for the assembly of our Pumps whilst working with complex manufacturing drawings, in an economic manner within the required time frames. This could include:
* Using the overhead gantry's to connect the Body Units and Engines and shimming where required.
* Filling engines with oil and setting to specified RPM.
* Dressing finished assemblies by cleaning and adding decals where required
* Adding Fuel Lines
* Completing Job cards in line with Build process ddd
Further responsibilities will also include:
* Discipline to assembly by following manufacturing processes.
* Vacuum and Water testing as per Test Specification.
* Preparing high Quality pumps jobs for Pre-Delivery Inspection.
* To be able to identify Faulty parts and to report your findings to the Production Engineer via the quarentine process.
* To take pride in your area of work and maintain a clean working environment.
* To be responsible for your workstations tools and to perform daily checks to ensure that they are in safe working order and ready for the next day.
* To perform Quality checks on your peers work during and after the build.
* To promote Safe working and identify near misses where possible.
* To promote a Continuous Improvement culture by making suggestions to the Production Engineer and raising Modification Requests to aid standardisation, build simplicity and cost of assembly.
* To use hoists and cranes or other lifting equipment safely to lift, move, load or unload components or assemblies as necessary to carry out scheduled tasks.
The main responsibilities are outlined below. This is not a definitive list and other tasks and activities may be necessary from time to time to satisfy the commercial activities required by Pumps Business Unit.
Qualifications:
* Time served apprenticeship within Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) or proven work history within a similar environment)
* Self-Motivated and able to work on own initiative.
* Good communicator, with ability to operate in a team environment.
