Media Communications Officer
Job Type : Temporary, Full Time
Salary : £18/hour
One of our local authority clients are currently recruiting for a Media Communications Officer. This is a temporary contract for 2 months with possible further extension based on budget and performance.
Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary
* Deliver professional media relations service for the council
* Offering expert advice to councillors and officers on proactive and reactive media handling strategies to protect and enhance the council’s reputation.
* Monitor and evaluate media coverage and reporting, keeping key stakeholders informed about the council’s reputation in the media.
* To promote council services and protect and enhance the organisation’s reputation.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Proactively identifying news opportunities and creating tailored content for a range of on and offline channels
* Respond to journalist queries in a timely and professional manner, in liaison with service managers, heads of service or councillors as appropriate.
* Contribute to a rolling schedule and forward plan of upcoming media activity for the council.
* Monitor, record and evaluate key service data as part of the teams continual monitoring process.
* Develop positive relationships with councillors, officers, stakeholders, partners, and the media
* To communicate with customer at the required level or As a customer focused role be able to communicate with our customers at the agreed level
* Commitment to the Council’s Strategic Plan
* To undertake any training and development as required
* To comply fully with the Council’s Equal Opportunity Policy
* To comply fully with the Council’s Health and Safety at Work Policy
* To assist as required in the Council’s Emergency Plan
* To comply fully with the Council’s IT Security Policy
* To undertake other duties commensurate with the grade of the post
