Media Officer
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join Devon & Cornwall Police as a Media Officer. This position is until December 2022 and is based out of the Police HQ in Exeter with the option for home working too. You will be developing and implementing issue and incident specific media strategies in order to generate accurate, balanced and positive publicity to help reduce crime and enhance public confidence.
What you will be doing:
Assessing information to ensure an open and transparent service is provided and decide which information should be disclosed for legal or operational reasons
Providing media updates on incidents and crimes
Training and supporting staff to ensure the organisation is represented appropriately in its communications with the media
Providing tactical and strategic communications advice and guidance to officers and staff
Reviewing social media posts
Building effective relationships with journalists and editors
Requirements:
Track record of experience in media relations and fast moving environments
Experience of working with senior levels within an organisation
Experience managing multi-agency issue-specific media strategies
Experience managing relationships with the media
Knowledge of all types of media including online, print and broadcast
