UKAEA are looking for a Media Relations and Social Media professional. The person will need to have strong copywriting and editing skills to work with us to promote fusion energy – a safe, sustainable, green, and exciting new form of energy, and the decommissioning and repurposing of fusion technologies that will no longer be in use.

The successful individual will report to the External Communications team, based in Culham, Oxford, and the role requires the implementation of proactive and reactive media relations and social media strategies through various channels.

Your tasks and responsibilities as a Media and Social Media Officer:

The role will involve working with staff within the Communications department to ensure all communications activity supports the successful delivery of UKAEA's goals.

Reporting to the Media Manager and Social Media Manager, you will:

Be the go-to press officer
Develop content appropriate for the channel being used (media and social media)
Monitor social media channels to respond appropriately to posts and comments as well as post stories and other content
Identify issues that require escalation
In addition to working with UKAEA's Media and Social Media Managers, you will be expected to work with UKAEA's Media Manager, Events Manager, Internal Communications Manager and Head of Stakeholder Engagement to coordinate and communicate UKAEA news
Develop communications collateral, which includes the drafting of press releases, e-mails for mailshots, opinion pieces, features, web copy, case studies, branded goods, events memorabilia, and other items for internal and external use
Assist with specific events such as the IAEA's Fusion Energy Conference 2023
Build relationships with personnel across UKAEAOur offer

Location

The role will be based at UKAEA, Oxford. UKAEA also offer the opportunity of a hybrid working environment.

The successful candidate will have a degree, relevant professional qualifications or at least 10 years' experience working in marketing and communications.
