We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced News Officer to join Merseyside Police at their Police Headquarters in Rose Hill Liverpool.
You will be working Monday to Friday full time flexi hours.
PLEASE NOTE DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE ROLE AND THE POLICE VETTING CRITERIA ANY APPLICANTS MUST HAVE RESIDED WITHIN THE UK CONTINUOUSLY FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION
Merseyside Police is looking for a temporary News Officer to help increase public confidence in the Force, reduce the fear of crime, help the Force to deliver its strategy & objectives and to help the community understand exactly what it is that the Force does.
The Post Holder will need to
respond appropriately to breaking events, being flexible and accessible for this purpose
liaise with and manage media groups & individuals during such events
develop& implement communication plans for large-scale events
search out, support & promote news-worthy items for wider consumption to grow the brand of Merseyside Police
coordinate, manage & monitor stakeholders both within and without the organisation, anticipating & planning for their responses to developmentsThe Ideal Candidate will need to be –
resilient, constructive and diplomatic at all times
used to a fast-paced high-stakes working environment
fully computer-literate with first-rate communication skills across all media platforms
able to travel freely across a wide physical range at a moment's notice
experienced in a news & media role involving management of perceptions & interpretations
discreet, cognisant of / adherent to all relevant legislation, policies & procedures
