Purpose of a Production Manager
Provide leadership throughout operational teams by managing and promoting exceptional performance and delivery in line with the company’s strategic plan and budget.
Work closely with internal and external key stakeholders to implement operational strategy and goals to exceed expectations for maximising efficiency, optimising production levels and driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities

* Budget control
* Execute tactical operations plans that deliver on targets/commitments & drive the business forward.
* Promote a 'Safety First' Culture by ensuring that the site is meeting appropriate HSE and standards and is legally compliant.
* Analyse capacity within production, continually review processes and implement actions to maximize capacity and efficiency. Lead productivity improvement programs, embracing and driving a lean/CI culture
* Create a culture of continuous improvement within operations. Coordinating all continuous improvement activities and employee development/training
* Exhibit a practical approach driven by results, including identification & submission of Capex projects
* Focus on waste reduction & the eradication of non-value added activities. Developing and acting upon plans to facilitate process improvement, achieving and exceeding run rates.
* Monitoring & improving cost-productivity measures & driving year-on-year cost reductions through improved efficiencies & performance
* Support, coach and develop the Operations team in all aspects of their roles to create and deploy a dynamic, high performing and efficient team
* Deploy the Operations governance processes, ensuring they are embedded across the business

Knowledge:

Education
Engineering degree eg Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing (desirable)
5 years + experience gained in middle management roles in manufacturing / engineering environment
Skills and competencies
* Ability to manage & balance competing multiple priorities and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost and employee relations
* Strong management principles and excellent leadership skills, including previous success in similar roles
* A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others, by developing working relationships with all levels of the organization
* Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to assess risk and determine the path forward to minimize business impact
* Excellent analysis and evaluation skills with a drive to challenge the status quo
* Change management skills
* KPI & data focused
Professional Experience
Extensive experience in a similar role in a high volume, highly regulated operations environment, preferably automotive or aerospace
Working experience of lean, CI techniques and process improvement projects
Other material requirements
Limited travel among sites may be required to support the business
