BelkavitzSloan are working as a recruitment partner to a mill independent stockholder and distributor of structural grade carbon steel in a number of product forms including; flats, longs, bar and rebar. This company are local to the South East of England with multiple sites throughout the territory and a fast and responsive delivery service that allows for a 24 hour turnaround on stock materials. To compliment the 20,000 tonnes of stock held within climate controlled warehousing the South East, this company has enviable trading relationships with many of the most prestigious mills in Western Europe along with distribution partners throughout the country.

Due to continued growth a requirement has become available within the companies East London office for a Sales Executive to join the business and assist with key account management and new business development from an internal position. This would be an ideal opportunity for a commercial candidate with experience within the steel or metals distribution industry to join a forward thinking business who can offer outstanding levels of career development and progression.

Key roles and responsibilities

– Sourcing new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calls, emails and marketing campaigns.

– Build partnering relationships to understand customer needs and requirements.

– Close sales and achieve monthly targets as agreed with your line manager.

– Maintain and expand your database of prospects.

– Maximise processing sales by continually expanding orders and up selling on all incoming and outgoing.

– Ensure that all quotes are followed up within a time frame designated by your manager and that the appropriate people are given feedback in relation to these quotes.

– To maintain customer account details to ensure up to date contact, delivery and unloading information is on file; to provide relevant information to purchasing, accounts, works and transport departments to ensure the company complies with Health & Safety legislation and can exceed our customers’ expectations on customer service.

The Candidate

– 1-3 years experience working within the steel, metals or fabrication industry.

– good knowledge of carbon steel or metals supply and the associated sakes processes

– high aptitude for sales with the desire to progress your career,

– Proficient and proactive cold caller with a keen hunters mentality

Candidates who have held the following positions within the steel or metals industry will be considered above all else.
