Sales Manager – Fertilisers

My client formulates and produces some of the best fertilisers on the market today and supplies them throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe, to amenity clients. They are an independent family business which competes well with multi-national corporations. They make use of the most technically advanced and up to date raw materials and manufacturing processes to offer their customers cutting edge products.
The family firm set up allows them to offer a flexibility of service and bespoke products even with low volumes. My client is proud of their heritage as fertiliser manufacturers offering a highly flexible service and meeting customers' specific requirements.
Due to retirement, they are now looking to bring on board a Sales Manager, working with 1 other initially, with scope to grow out the role and manage teams in future.
Key functions of the role are to:
Utilise excellent interpersonal skills to maintain relationships with existing distributor and end-user customers.
Identify and proactively contact potential new sales leads to increase sales and margins.
Maintain a high level of technical expertise and knowledge of the fertiliser and plant-nutrition industry.
Maintain a current FACTS qualification and establish oneself as a reliable and credible source of agronomic advice.
Communicate effectively with other staff to fulfil customers' expectations, including in relation to requirements for orders and new product development.
Interact closely with senior management to develop and execute the sales strategy.
Handle any complaints in a professional and timely manner.
Follow all applicable safety policies, procedures and regulations.
Fulfil other tasks as appropriate.The candidate should be willing to undertake domestic travel as required.
Remuneration: basic salary circa. £50-60K + company car + performance-related bonus (based on increase in annual gross profit)
