School Chef
Job Type : Temporary, Full Time
Salary : £11 – £13/hour
SNS Recruitment is currently sourcing for an experienced and reliable Chef to cover our client’s schools located around the London area.
As the chef you will be required to provide nutritious, balanced and value-for-money meals to children every day in term time.
What’s involved:
The role of school chef could include:
* Ordering food
* Planning menus according to a fixed budget
* Following guidelines on nutrition and healthy eating.
* Monitoring and managing supplies within a budget.
Hours:
Monday to Friday (Term times only)
Can vary between 7.30am – 3.30pm
Responsibilities:
* To prepare, cook and serve a range of dishes having regard to quantity as appropriate for
the number of children attending.
* To plan seasonal menus, researching ideas and offering
suggestions for dishes to include.
* To maintain a clean, hygienic and well organised working environment in the kitchen.
* To maintain accurate and up to date records relevant to the kitchen e.g. fridge
temperatures.
* Having regard to individual dietary requirements, ensuring that all children are provided
with appropriate dishes to meet their needs.
* To prepare and carry out weekly ordering reflecting numbers of children attending.
* To support regular activities with children to promote the company healthy eating ethos.
* To maintain high levels of communication with regard to all kitchen issues.
* To keep up to date with any food related issues which may affect the catering industry.
* To meet the dietary needs of children, encouraging good standards of personal hygiene,
whilst promoting independence.
* To support the schools commitment on safeguarding children in all aspects of the
schools service.
* To liaise with other professionals as appropriate e.g. Ofsted, Environmental Health
* To have a clear knowledge of and adhere to all Health and Safety Regulations.

* NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation & Cookery
