Our client, a leading business membership organisation working across the UK, is looking for a Senior Media & Communications Adviser to join their team in London (hybrid).
This role would be suitable for an experienced PR professional or journalist, with a strong political and news sense, looking to further their career at a high-profile and fast-paced business organisation.
The successful candidate would play a key part in the delivery of the full spectrum of the organisations media activity, across all platforms, including support for our digital channels.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting the Head of News and the wider team to protect and enhance the reputation of the organisation through strong media coverage
* Proactively writing press releases, articles, statements, tweets and materials for publication in the media, on the website and across social media/digital platforms
* Managing day to day media enquiries, including arranging TV, radio and print interviews, and confidently briefing journalists
* Identifying risks to the brand and providing strategic advice on how to handle effectively
* Organising a wide range of media interviews, press conferences, photo calls and media roundtables, preparing relevant briefing materials and ensuring spokespeople are fully briefed
* Providing strategic support within the media team and wider organisation in the execution of key communication outputs – not limited to the successful candidate's areas of responsibility
* Providing media support at key events throughout the year
* Supporting the social media team in developing content for existing channels including Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn
* Participating in the out of hours Press Office rota (1 week in 5)
Knowledge & Experience
* Proven experience in media relations, journalism or public affairs
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
* Excellent creative writing skills and good all-round communicator
* Sound judgement, strong news sense and political nous
* Ability to work under pressure/meet tight deadlines
* Evidence of good pre-existing relationships with journalists
