Job Summary:
As a Senior Product Engineer you will be part of a Global Team developing agricultural machinery and supporting the maintenance of the legacy products, supporting field issues resolution, component obsolescence and cost reduction activities upon approval.
Working closely with the Engineering Product Leader, Global Engineering team, Global Market Manager as well as suppliers and providing work directions to on-site and remotely located engineering contracts when needed.
The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of agricultural or construction or heavy plant equipment including the setup, operation and data analysis capabilities.
Job Responsibility
• Lead technically the future development (NPI) and maintenance (CPM)
• Engineering Project Management for NPI Programs, including OPEX development, schedules, task management and validation
• Generate and maintain design of machine systems (power unit and toolbars) and components requirements, working closely with Global Functional leaders (Technology, Hydraulics, Engines,
etc), NPI Purchasing and Manufacturing counterparts (3 sites)
• Design (3D and 2D) and coordinate development of components/systems especially sheetmetal design and mechanisms (Mechanical/Hydraulics)
• Knowledge of FEA and Engineering Calculation of structures, drives, mass flow etc.
• Knowledge of DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
• Develop together with the other vehicle engineers the best and most effective mechanical design
• Perform engineering releases of assigned systems consistent with department standards and program milestones
• Maintain current/legacy machine design, obsolescence of components and BOMs
• Coordinate with Technology teams the maintenance of current/legacy machine software and electrical schematic as needed
• Working with the Safety and Homologation Lead Engineer on the safety/risk analysis, machine technical files and support countries homologation processes
• Collaborate with internal and external suppliers to concept, design, and validate machine systems and components that meets performance and reliability requirements
• Investigate field concerns and warranty claims for both prototype and current product, providing design solutions to address failures.
• Coordinate with Prototype and Purchasing to procure and install parts for prototype machines
• Actively support prototype builds and engage in field operations as required to investigate field concerns
• Track costs of designs and overall machine depending the market
• Participate/Lead Design reviews within Engineering and Cross Functional Teams
Person Specification
• Able to work under minimal supervision but have the ability to recognize issues that need to be escalated to site manager or Product Leadership Team
• Working knowledge of office computer applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written)
• Machinery, Automotive electrical/hydraulic schematic and/or harness design experience
• 3D modelling (i.e. Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo)
• General knowledge of Agricultural machinery and/or off-road vehicle design and operation
• Results-oriented project approach with quality and customer focus, project management standards & procedures usage is essential
• Lead the technical development
• Leadership qualities to supervise and coordinate the vehicle design with internal staff
• Coordination of Design Contractors, on-site or offshore
• Interfacing with Global development teams
• Understanding of the roles & responsibilities of a cross-functional team involved

• Excellent analysis skills to identify the root causes and to react in a short time following the defined procedures
• Ability to address and resolve issues in an objective, fact-based, professional fashion
Interpersonal Skills:
• Leadership and Ability to inspire confidence in project sponsors, owners and participants and to work in team
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey test results, root cause analysis, new
strategies, processes/approaches to a variety of internal audiences
• Excellent communication and negotiation skill both verbal and written to when working with other
departments or external suppliers
• Motivated self-starter who can relate well to a diverse multidiscipline development team
Qualifications and Experiences:
• Bachelor in Agricultural, Electronic, Mechanical, Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent
• Desired background in agricultural machinery or agriculture (“grew up on the farm”)
• Extensive professional experience with development of agricultural machinery or similar
• Some practical experience with Sprayers, Tractors, Combine harvesters or other agricultural machinery either as driver or repairman is highly desirable but not essential
• Direct experience in team facilitation and group leadership
• Availability for travel (including US, Brazil & Europe): approx 15%
This role is Monday – Friday, 37 hour week with early finish on a Friday
