Sous Chef
Job Type : Permanent, Full Time
Salary : £28000 – £34000/annum
Our client is looking for an experienced Sous Chef with a passion for cooking great food. The focus is on finding someone with strong experience in a similar role or someone who has been at a Senior Chef de Partie level, who is ready for a step up. We are looking for someone who can operate across starters, mains and deserts, and has a high level of attention to detail with the ability to work unsupervised to deliver a high quality of work.
Reporting to the Head Chef, key responsibilities will include:
Food preparation under the guidance of the Head Chef
Directing the food preparation process and delegating tasks in the Head Chef’s absence
Cooking and preparing high quality dishes
Assisting the Head Chef to create menu items, recipes and develop dishes
Supervising all kitchen stations as required
Supervising, motivating and working closely with other Chefs of all levels
Being responsible for health and safety
Being responsible for food hygiene practices
Ensuring food quality and excellent standards are maintained for all dishes created
Assisting with determining food inventory needs, stocking and ordering
Ensuring the kitchen meets all regulations including sanitary and food safety guidelines
As a Sous Chef, you should also possess:
Good knowledge of all sections
Ability to produce good quality food
Good oral communication
Team leadership skills
High level of attention to detail
Enthusiasm to develop your own skills and knowledge plus those around you
Any previous experience in a leadership role would also be useful.
It is a 40 week (maximum – they are strict in not requiring unpaid overtime at the end of the shift) which will include evenings and weekends on a rota basis. Send your CV in the first instance.
