Support Operations Manager
Job Type : Permanent, Full Time
Salary : £40000 – £45000/annum
Our client is looking for a Support Operations Manager to lead a team of maintenance/support staff at their premises in Ullapool to ensure equipment is fit for purpose and maintained to a high standard including but not limited to (preventative, reactionary, and planned maintenance) that enable the farms husbandry staff to rear high quality farmed salmon from smolt to harvest.
The Successful candidate should be highly organised with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ready to inspire and lead a team. Proven management skills are essential, position involves managing a diverse range of skills and knowledge, while successfully developing skill shortages. Optimistic outlook with a problem-solving attitude is important.
Main Duties will include
Ensure utilisation and efficient use of all non-fish related assets
Quality control of services delivered by 3rd parties or contractors
Support the husbandry operations in various processes such as Mooring installation and removal, new infrastructure installation, general support functions for harvesting, feeding, and operations of a salmon farming company
Purchasing Management to ensure best price, best quality, and best warranty/guarantee.
Operational management of work boat operations to support requirements of the business (tasks such as predator net changes, mooring repair/maintenance.
A member of the operational management team reporting to the directors of the business working alongside two other senior managers (Seawater Operations Manager and Fish Health & business development Manager)
Lead a variety of Engineering projects to expand or improve existing production activities ensuring design, cost, functionality, and suitability are achieved.
Planning staff resources required equipment and workload to ensure timely delivery of a demanding workload.
To maintain and repair Boats (Aluminium and Fibreglass), Forklifts, Pressure washers, winches, and other mechanical equipment, building infrastructure such as pens and Barges and Commercial and domestic Properties
To participate in development trials as necessary
To maintain high standards of hygiene and hygienic practises throughout the site.
To always follow safe working practises, be aware of surroundings regarding Health & Safety and suggest improvements where necessary.A full clean UK driving licence is essential – current valid certification for any of the following would also be desirable:
Telescopic forklift
Counterbalance forklift
HGV licence
Level 2 PowerboatThe jobholder must be physically fit. Much of the work is outdoors and the person has to persevere often under severe weather conditions and adapt to living in a remote environment.
