The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, your key responsibilities will be: –
Managing three direct reports, who manage production, warehouse, operations, logistics, quality, health and safety
Continuous review of the above functions, to ensure best practice, and that business operates within the stringent demands of customer SLAs
The core market has some seasonality, so you will manage the demand planning and operational delivery to ensure all customer requirements are met
You will own your own budget, and liaise with the FD on a regular basis
Labour planning and materials planning
Space utilisation and warehouse best practice, safeguarding efficiency and cost control
Stock and inventory management
Haulier reviews, setting KPIS, and monitoring performance
Training and development of a large staff group
Overall responsibility for health & safety
Guide the management board on all elements of operational performance, working with the MD and FD to ensure budgets are met, and margins and profitability are safeguarded
Skills
You will be an exceptional leader with proven people management skills
The new incumbent will be a proven “project manager” and a problem solver who is ideas driven and a key catalyst in driving improvements and efficiencies
A customer centric mentality, with a sharp eye for detail
Commercially savvy, entrepreneurial and financially literate
Excellent communication skills, and the ability to stand on your feet and take people with you
IT literate, with a good knowledge of warehouse management and stock control systems – SAP would be advantageous but is not essential
A self-starter, with a high level of personal integrity and credibility
Graduate, or graduate calibre preferable
Vitally, you will have a demonstrable track record of achievement in a senior warehouse and operations role in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
