The team
Our News team delivers high quality and trustworthy television and online coverage that regularly attracts audiences in excess of 3.5 million viewers. It’s a fast moving environment with a huge variety of roles and challenges on offer. We operate in 11 main news production centres across England, Northern Ireland, Wales and the Channel Islands. We also have a Political Unit based in the heart of Westminster. And finally, we produce a range of current affairs & factual programming out of ITV Wales, UTV and ITV Border.
The role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Weather Presenter to join our Channel Islands team in Jersey.
The role requires you to research, compile and deliver forecasts throughout the day for audiences across the Channel Islands, playing a pivotal role in our 6pm flagship new programme. You will be expected to present both in the studio and live on-location.
You will need to be a highly engaging presenter, capable of both communicating the latest information and offering a greater depth of understanding to the weather story, where necessary. You would also be comfortable chatting to other presenters in more relaxed moments on air, as well as fully immersing yourself in our other platforms and social media channels.
With so much interest in the weather, you may be asked to interview contributors and structure reports for other segments of the programme, so experience in this area could prove useful, as could the ability to film and edit. Topics could include anything from our changing climate to the great outdoors! You may even front longer form films or programmes.
We’re looking for someone who will help define the look and feel of our weather services online and on screen.
You’ll have a creative mind, with ideas for connecting with audiences and the capacity to learn from trying new things. Our production and planning meetings are all about fresh thinking but also working together, so you would need to be a team player. Technical skills are also essential.
On screen we employ a mixture of trained meteorologists and presenters who are supported by both Jersey Met and the UK Met Office. Applications are welcomed from people with either background.
Building and maintaining a positive working relationship with Jersey Met and the UK Met Office is a crucial part of the role.
Jersey is an incredible place to live and work – if you can demonstrate you have the personality and passion to become our main weather presenter, we’d love to hear from you.
Please apply with your CV, a cover letter and a link to your latest showreel.
